Patna. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s mother-in-law Vidyawati Devi died at the age of 90 at around 6.40 pm on Friday evening. She was seriously ill for a long time. He breathed his last at IGIMS, Patna. As soon as the news of his demise was received, a wave of mourning ran in the Chief Minister’s family.

Vidyawati Devi’s last rites were performed at Bans Ghat in Patna on Saturday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached Bans Ghat with his son Nishant Kumar and bid last farewell to his mother-in-law. During the last rites, religious rituals were performed with full rituals. On this occasion, Bihar Government Minister Ashok Chaudhary and other family members, relatives and close people were also present. The atmosphere at the ghat was completely gloomy.

According to family members, Vidyawati Devi was unwell for a long time. She was admitted in IGIMS for the last two months. His condition remained critical due to several age- diseases. The family members were in constant touch with him during the treatment. The special thing was that Nishant Kumar, son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, used to go to the hospital almost every evening to meet his grandmother and inquire about her well-being.

After the demise of Vidyawati Devi, condolences are being expressed in the political and social circles of the state. Leaders close to the Chief Minister, ministers and leaders of various parties have expressed deep condolences on this tragic incident. Many leaders prayed for the peace of the departed soul and talked about providing strength to the bereaved family.

It is noteworthy that before this, Krishnanandan Sinha, father-in-law of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, had died about seven years ago. He died at his residence in PC Colony, Kankarbagh. As soon as the information was received, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached his in-laws house with his son Nishant Kumar. Late Krishnanandan Sinha was a high school teacher by profession and was recognized as a reputed teacher in Harnaut area. His last rites were also performed at the electric crematorium at Bans Ghat in Patna, where his elder son Arun Kumar performed the funeral pyre.

Vidyawati Devi is remembered in the family as a woman with a simple, calm nature and giving importance to family values. His demise has caused irreparable loss to the family. After the funeral, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar remained present at Bans Ghat for some time and participated in religious rituals. People across the state are saddened by this sad news and the Chief Minister is expressing his condolences to the family.
