Two Edinburgh gangs have been filmed violently slashing at each other in an Asda car park with what appear to be huge bladed weapons, leaving onlookers terrified.
A video has been circulating online showing two Edinburgh gangs embroiled in an armed battle yesterda, Wednesday, February 25. It was filmed at The Jewel Asda car park, where youths wearing face coverings can be seen brandishing blades and batons.
Officers, including specialist firearms officers, attended the scene and a search was carried out, but the males were not traced.
Police Scotland told the Mirror: "Around 4.20pm on Wednesday, 25 February, 2026, we were called to a report of males with weapons causing a disturbance in The Jewel area of Edinburgh.
"Officers, including specialist firearms officers, attended and a search was carried out however the males were not traced.
"There are no reported injuries. Extensive enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any concerns or information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2488 of Wednesday, 25 February, 2026."
In the footage, two males can be seen duelling. The video also appears to show a male is holding what appears to be a black baton while his rival seems to be holding a bladed weapon in his hand. Another man in grey can be seen jumping around behind the male brandishing a blade.
One local, 49, told Edinburgh Live: "All of a sudden it just erupted. I don't know if it was rival gangs or what but it's not what you expect in broad daylight at the local supermarket. It looked like they all had weapons, knives, huge blades and I think one had a bat. They were wildly slashing at each other as shoppers wandered by - it's terrifying really."
