And the wait is over! IPL 2026 commences today, March 28, 2026. The first match is between defending champions RCB and the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Before the start of the game, the players, spectators, and all those present in the stadium observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the 11 individuals who lost their lives last season in the stampede.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium had not hosted a game until today, which is the RCB vs SRH IPL 2026 opener.
The players wore black arm bands as a mark of respect and paid homage to the victims of the stampede
Among attendees were RCB star Virat Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma, RCB Women's team captain Smriti Mandhana, and Shreyanka Patil. Jemimah Rodrigues was also present in the crowd.
Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shreyanka Patil were seen in RCB's jersey, while Anushka Sharma wore a floral breezy top.
RCB earlier won the toss and opted to field first in the opening game. The season opener sees a host of new faces take the field, with Abhinandan Singh, Salil Arora, and Jacob Duffy making their debuts.
The photos are viral all over social media, and netizens are praising the perfect frame of Smriti, Anushka, and Jemimah. A clip shows Anushka Sharma flipping her hair in style as she cheers for Virat.
