Kapurthala Jail Violence: There was chaos in Kapurthala jail of Punjab at around 8:30 pm on Saturday night, when the jail premises turned into a field of violence. According to reports, a bloody clash broke out between prisoners and undertrials after a minor argument with a prisoner. Within no time the angry prisoners started damaging the jail property.

The violent prisoners damaged the internal walls of Barrack No. 4 and also tried to set fire to a part of the jail. During this, there was a commotion among the jail officials and the policemen present there. When the police tried to bring the situation under control, the prisoners allegedly attacked them too.

Accused of shooting a prisoner

Some videos have also surfaced from the spot, in which prisoners are seen making serious allegations against the jail administration. The prisoners claim that the administration opened fire to control them. In the video, the prisoners are also alleging that a fellow prisoner has been shot, although this has not been officially confirmed by the administration.

Ambulance deployed outside the jail

From the presence of 5-6 ambulances outside the jail premises, it is being estimated that many people have been injured in this clash. As soon as information about the incident was received, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kapurthala reached the spot with heavy police force and took stock of the situation. Jalandhar Range DIG issued a statement late night saying that the situation is now completely under control. A thorough investigation has been started into the reasons for this security lapse and violence inside the jail.

Let us tell you that while controlling the situation, 7 to 8 rounds of firing also took place. After the incident, an atmosphere of chaos has arisen inside the jail. It is being told that seeing the situation getting out of control, police forces from nearby districts are also being sent to Kapurthala so that the situation can be controlled.
