If someone asks you to leave your lucrative corporate job worth lakhs of rupees and open a samosa shop on the road, you will obviously call him crazy. But there are some people in India who have such a passion to become entrepreneurs and do something different that they are ready to go to any extent. In fact, this courage to take risk completely changed the lives of Nidhi Singh and her husband Shikhar Veer Singh.

There was a time when both these husband and wife were living a luxurious and peaceful corporate life. But he kicked that comfortable life and started his own startup by the name of Samosa Singh. You will be surprised to know that this couple, who were once employed, today sells more than 30 thousand samosas every day and their earning is around Rs 12 lakh every day. Let us tell you in detail how this business empire with a turnover of Rs 45 crore was established on the basis of a desi snack.

Story of Samosa Singh: How did a crying child change life?

The threads of this interesting story are connected to an engineering college in Haryana. It was here that Nidhi and Shikhar met for the first time, where both were studying B.Tech in Biotechnology. After completing college, Nidhi started working in a renowned corporate company in Gurugram, where due to her hard work, her annual package reached Rs 30 lakh. On the other hand, Shikhar continued his studies and after doing M.Tech, he started working on the important post of Principal Scientist in Bengaluru-based leading pharma company Biocon.

If you look at it, the life of both of them was completely set. However, Shikhar had been harboring the desire to start a samosa business since his college days, but Nidhi convinced him and took him to the position of scientist. But perhaps fate had something else in store. It is said that one day Nidhi was sitting in a food court, when her eyes fell on a small child who was crying badly and insisting for samosas. Just this one moment changed Nidhi’s way of thinking. He realized that samosa in India is not just a snack, but a deep emotion of the people and its market is huge. After this, by the year 2015, both of them took a big decision of leaving their good jobs.

When a new house worth Rs 80 lakh had to be sold after staying just one night

In 2016, the couple shifted to Bengaluru and laid the foundation of this brand with their savings. The initial response was quite good and people started liking the taste of their samosas. But the real challenge in business was yet to come.

Actually, his ordeal began when the company received a huge order. To complete this huge order on time, they were in dire need of a big and hi-tech kitchen, but by then both of them were facing severe cash shortage. In such a situation, this couple took a step which may make anyone sweat. He had bought a new apartment worth Rs 80 lakh in the posh Yelahanka area of Bengaluru with his life’s hard-earned money. The surprising thing is that they could sleep only for one night in that dream house and had to sell it the very next day. Instead of taking any other risk, he rented a big factory in Bengaluru with the huge money he earned from selling his house and focused his entire attention on the business.

Scientist’s brain and oil-free samosa

Taking that risk of selling the house proved to be the biggest game changer for him. Today their brand has grown from a small shop to a big name in the food industry. Now the question arises that what is so special about their samosas that people are so crazy about it?

In fact, here the scientific mind of Shikhar has done real wonders. He has designed the samosa dough in such a scientific way that it absorbs very less oil while frying. Its direct advantage is that after eating samosa, there is no sticky oil on your hands.

Considering the demand of local people and customers, their menu does not have only traditional potato samosa. They make chicken makhani, kadai paneer and even chocolate flavored samosas in their special kitchen. To give a premium look to these samosas, their brand name is printed on each piece.

Today the situation is such that this husband and wife are earning a handsome income of Rs 12 lakh by selling about 30 thousand samosas every day and the annual turnover of their company has crossed Rs 45 crore. This story of Nidhi and Shikhar clearly proves that if you have a vision and are willing to take risks, then even a simple looking ‘samosa’ can take you from high to high.
