The Pune district administration has imposed a 14-day restriction order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), introducing tighter controls on vehicle movement and public activities in certain parts of the city. The temporary restrictions have been implemented as a preventive administrative measure to maintain law and order and avoid public inconvenience.
According to the order, authorities have placed limitations on unnecessary vehicle movement in selected areas and increased monitoring of public spaces. Police and civic officials have also been directed to strengthen surveillance and enforcement during the restriction period.
The administration said the measures are aimed at preventing traffic disruptions, illegal activities, and crowd- disturbances in sensitive zones.
Section 163 of BNSS allows district administrations to impose temporary restrictions in situations where there may be risks to public order, safety, or smooth administration.
Officials clarified that the order will remain in force for 14 days and may be extended further if required based on the ground situation.
Police teams have reportedly intensified checking operations across several parts of Pune. Authorities are also monitoring suspicious gatherings, unauthorized activities, and traffic violations more closely during the restriction period.
Local officials said emergency services, essential services, and permitted movements will continue normally without disruption.
The administration has appealed to residents to cooperate with officials and avoid violating restriction guidelines. Citizens have also been advised to stay updated through official notifications and avoid spreading misinformation on social media.
Authorities warned that strict action could be taken against individuals violating the temporary orders.
The move reflects increasing use of preventive administrative measures by urban authorities to manage crowd control, traffic congestion, and law-and-order challenges in rapidly growing cities like Pune.
