New Delhi: In the eliminator match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan performed brilliantly and eliminated Hyderabad from the tournament by defeating Hyderabad by 47 runs. With this victory, Rajasthan has made it to Qualifier-2, where it will face Gujarat on May 29. On the other hand, the journey of Hyderabad team this season has ended.
In this high-scoring match played in Mullanpur, Rajasthan, batting first, scored 243 runs in 20 overs. This proved to be the second highest score in IPL playoff history. The team’s explosive start put the Hyderabad bowlers under complete pressure. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad could score only 196 runs in the stipulated overs and lost the match.
The biggest hero of Rajasthan’s victory was young batsman Vaibhav. Batting in an explosive manner, he scored 97 runs in just 29 balls. Rain of fours and sixes was seen in his innings. Vaibhav’s stormy batting can be gauged from the fact that Rajasthan scored 125 runs in the first eight overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi also had a chance to score the fastest century in IPL history. He came very close to breaking Chris Gayle’s record of century in 30 balls, but was out on the 29th ball of his innings. However, he made another big record in his name. Vaibhav has now become the batsman who has hit the most sixes in an IPL season. He has hit 65 sixes in his name this season, whereas Chris Gayle had hit 59 sixes in 2012.
Hyderabad’s batting completely faltered in this important match. The team’s leading batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Head and Klaasen could not perform as per expectations. Due to the early dismissal of these players, the team came under pressure and remained far away from the target.
