Mayank Trigun, Agra. A very surprising and unique case has come to light from Agra in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Eid ul Azha (Bakrid), the festival of sacrifice. While the entire country is busy with the festival of lights and people are busy preparing for the sacrifice, a Muslim family from Agra decided to do something different this time. Gul Chaman Sherwani, who lives here, this time instead of sacrificing a goat, cut a cake with the picture of a goat. This ‘unique sacrifice’ of his has not only created a stir in the area, but has also become a topic of discussion on social media.
Gul Chaman Sherwani, a lawyer by profession, believes that in today’s times the meaning of sacrifice has changed. By cutting the cake, he has tried to give a big message to the society to stop killing animals. Let us know why he took such a step and what he has to say on this.
Actually, Gul Chaman Sherwani says that in today’s time, sacrifice has deviated from its original spirit. Talking to the media, he said in clear words, “Nowadays, rich people are not making sacrifices, but are flaunting their wealth. Buying goats worth lakhs of rupees is just for show, which is not the true teaching of religion.”
In fact, Gul Chaman is hurt by the fact that in the name of the festival, the lives of voiceless animals are being taken and it has been made a status symbol. This is the reason why this time he along with his family decided to ‘sacrifice cake’ instead of goat.
According to local people, mixed reactions are being seen in the city regarding this step of Gul Chaman. While some people are considering it as an excellent and progressive step in terms of animal kindness and environment, some people with traditional thinking are also raising objections on it.
It is being told that Gul Chaman Sherwani has been openly expressing his opinion on many social issues in the past also. Those close to him say that he has always been strictly against wasteful expenditure and ostentation in the society. This time he had also written the message ‘Stop killing animals’ on the cake with the picture of a goat, so that people could understand the seriousness of this matter.
Gul Chaman argues that Allah sees the intentions of the heart, not the show. If, along with saving a voiceless person, we invest that money in the education or treatment of a poor person, it will be more acceptable in the sight of Allah. However, this unique initiative of this Muslim family of Agra is currently the talk of the town everywhere.
