While the tennis world gets ready for the upcoming Wimbledon, the Indian wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson expressed his thoughts on who Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz might be in Indian cricket. In an interview with JioStar, the Chennai Super Kings opener said that the former Indian captain resembles the tennis great Roger Federer. Samson said,

"The Roger Federer of cricket? It has to be MS Dhoni. He is very calm and composed in the way he goes about his business. When he performs, it looks effortless yet very powerful."

Alcaraz, who won it in 2024, seems like Virat Kohli to Samson. The Kerala batter found a resemblance between the two in terms of aggression. Samson added,

"Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, is very explosive, much like how Virat Bhai started. Maybe Virat Kohli can be compared to Alcaraz. He is very aggressive and full of power and explosiveness."

Notably, this is not the first time that the Spanish superstar got compared to Virat Kohli. Back in 2023, during the Wimbledon victory over Serbia's Novak Djokovic, an older video of Carlos playing against Stefanos Tsitsipas got viral where the commentator was heard comparing him with Kohli in cricket and Michael Jordan in basketball.

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships will be held from June 29 to July 12 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London, with qualifying matches already in progress. The official singles draw is scheduled for June 26.

Defending men's champion Jannik Sinner enters as the top seed after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew with a wrist injury, while Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic remain leading contenders. In the women's event, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and defending champion Iga Świątek headline the field.

Serena Williams has accepted a wildcard for her first singles appearance in four years and will also partner Venus Williams in women's doubles.

Wimbledon will debut video review technology and offer a record £64.2 million prize pool.
