After back-to-back departures of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in the first ODI between England and India in Birmingham, it is Axar Patel who took charge to chase down whatever remaining runs were left in the target. However, in the 35th over, he ruined a fan's drink with an overboundary.

Patel struggled with the bat in the T20I series; however, he came back strongly in the ODI format. In the third ball of the over, Will Jacks delivered a fuller ball in the slot. Axar knelt and smacked the ball over the cow corner for a six. Trying to hold the ball, a man stretched backward so hard that he not only spilled his drink all over his t-shirt, but he also fell on the ground behind his seat, with his legs literally up in the air.

Even though it was embarrassing for the victim, his fellow attendees, including the lady beside him, seemed to have great fun with the sight. Even the commentators had brief comic relief in a somewhat predictable match.
