Varanasi: There was a stir at Varanasi Airport in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning when suddenly a bullet was fired from the pistol of a passenger. Two people present at the airport were injured in the accident. Both have been taken to the hospital for treatment. After the incident, the police has started investigating the matter.

According to the information, a passenger from Azamgarh was going to Mumbai with his wife by Air India flight. This passenger traveling by flight number IX-1810 had a pistol and magazine. The passenger had informed the airport authorities about his weapons before the journey.




According to the airport director, during the weapons check at around 9:30 in the morning, suddenly a round was fired from a pistol. The bullet first hit the ground and then hit two people standing nearby.


Woman's thigh and young man's hand shot


In the sudden firing, a woman got shot in the thigh, while a young man got injured in his hand. Immediately after the accident, both the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. According to officials, both are being treated. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the airport premises for some time. Security personnel and concerned officials handled the situation.


Police started investigation


Airport officials have informed the local police about the incident. Police are now trying to find out the circumstances under which the bullet was fired while checking the weapons. The airport director said that investigation into the matter is ongoing. Information about other aspects to the incident is also being collected by the officials.


This incident has happened at a time when special vigilance is taken at the airport regarding security check of passengers and their luggage. At present, the entire reason for the firing will become clear only after the police investigation is completed.
