The first day's play of the ongoing second Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo is over. The match is being played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The first day of the second Test was in favor of India. India have scored 300 runs in their first innings in 85 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Indian captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bat first. This decision was completely justified by Devdutt Padikkal scoring a century. Devdutt Padikkal scored a brilliant century and scored 117 runs. As the first day's play ended, Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on 7 and Samantha Jain on 4.

Devdutt Padikkal scored his second century of the series and of his career. He had scored a first innings century in the previous match and has scored a first innings century in this match as well. Devdutt played a brilliant innings while batting at number three. He was dismissed for 117 runs. Half of the players in the Indian team are back in the pavilion. Jadeja was dismissed for 43 runs. Dhruv Jurail is playing at 7 runs while debutant Samantha Jain is playing at 4 runs. Asitha Fernando has taken three wickets for Sri Lanka so far, while Lahiru Kumara and Kesara Nuwantha have taken one each.


In the first match of the series, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs. The match was played at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. Now, the Indian team will try to win this match and give a clean sweep to Sri Lanka
