An Australian man holidaying in Bali was allegedly robbed of two gold necklaces, valued at more than AU$17,000 (US$12,255), by a passing motorcyclist.
The 68-year-old victim, identified by police by the initials RJB, was walking with his wife along Werkudara Street in the popular tourist district of Legian when the robbery occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 21.
According to Australian news site news.com.aua motorcyclist slowed down beside the couple.
The rider suddenly grabbed the man’s neck, ripping off the gold chains, weighing 50 grams and 25 grams, before speeding away.
The victim briefly attempted to chase the thief before stopping.

Local police reported that just prior to the robbery, the couple had walked past a man sitting on a motorcycle. He was reportedly wearing a jacket that resembled a standard ride-hailing uniform.
The attack was captured on CCTV, with the footage released to the public this week.
Capt. I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, spokesman for the Denpasar police force, confirmed the details of the robbery to The Bali Times.
Kuta district police are now investigating the case. Officers have processed the crime scene, collected statements from the victims and witnesses, and are reviewing the security footage to identify the suspect.
