Team India's veteran physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain has resigned from his post, as per a source close to the BCCI. He has been with the team since June 2022 for a four-year stint and will now be leaving the post. The physio has a three-month notice period, although it has not been approved yet.

As per Cricbuzz, Kamlesh Jain, who has been India's physio since June 2022, will be with the team in Delhi for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan that begins on September 13. Jain has served as physio for the senior men's team for nearly four years. He has been on the staff for almost nine years. This stint could be his last as he will be returning to New Zealand with the national team in early December. Also, he may leave the position before the tour if BCCI allows it.

Kamlesh Jain's move is said to be motivated mainly by the fact that he was tied up with the Indian team on the road for too long. Having spent around four-and-a-half years with the national set-up, the Chennai-based physio is reportedly looking out for an option that allows him to travel less, so that he can spend more time with his young family.

Jain was appointed as India's physio after Nitin Patel left for the post of the BCCI's Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Before joining the national set-up, Jain had spent almost a decade with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and was promoted to the post of head physio of the franchise in 2020. He was recruited by the BCCI during the tenure of Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the country's cricket teams.

Jain's impending exit comes at a time when the Indian cricket administrative body and its selectors have been under the scanner as a number of their players have been struggling with injuries during 2026. The selectors and the coaching staff are said to be concerned about the number of injuries and the possible impact they could have on the team's make-up and planning for the years to come.

His exit would also be the latest in a series of changes to India's support staff in the last few months. Fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate have also left their posts in the last few months.

Had his application for the post been accepted, the BCCI would now have to look out for someone to fill in for one of the most important posts that have been held by India's cricket teams for a considerable amount of time.
