ABVP JNU has accused JNUSU of ignoring student interests and organizing the documentary screening to make Umar Khalid's image look better. The organization has demanded an end to the alleged 'left-admin nexus' in the university and a ban on political activities.

kNEWS DESK- Controversy has arisen over the screening of the documentary on Omar Khalid in Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University. The JNU unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly criticized the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU). The organization alleges that the student union is engaged in political activities, leaving aside important issues like hostel allocation, study space and the dilapidated infrastructure of the university.

ABVP said in its statement that JNUSU in the name of free expression 'Prisoner No. 626710 is Present' is organizing the screening of the documentary. The organization claims that through this film an effort is being made to generate sympathy for Omar Khalid and improve his public image.

Questions also raised on JNU administration

ABVP has also raised questions on the role of the university administration. The organization alleges that it is not possible to organize such programs without the permission and support of the administration. ABVP asked under which rules the screening of the documentary was allowed.

The organization said that JNU is a government university, which is run by public taxes. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to use the university's resources to show a film made on Delhi riots accused Umar Khalid.

Accusation of action against nationalist students

ABVP claimed that disciplinary action and restrictions are imposed on students holding nationalist views in the university, while those with separatist ideologies are allowed to use the resources of the institution.

The organization has demanded ending the alleged 'left-admin nexus' in JNU, stopping politicization of the campus and restoring the academic dignity of the university.

Screening postponed due to security reasons

The screening of the documentary on jailed activist Umar Khalid was proposed at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) on September 14 at 7 pm. However, the program was postponed citing security and logistical reasons.

This screening was to be organized by the Law and Society Committee to express solidarity with Omar Khalid. The organizers have said that they have not come under any pressure. Despite opposition from ABVP, the controversy regarding the screening of the documentary continues.
