What should be the idol of Ganapati?

A Ganesh idol of about 7 to 10 inches is considered suitable for installation in the house. It is considered better if the trunk of the idol is bent towards the left. Special rules are followed in the worship of Dakshinavarti i.e. the idol with the trunk turned towards the right.

It is considered auspicious to keep the idol of Ganapati in the north-east direction of the house. If there is no space, it can be established in the east direction. Place the idol only after spreading a red or yellow cloth on the post and install the Kalash on the right side of the idol.
