Now Laxman may get a chance

There are speculations that after Ajit Agarkar, NCA chief VVS Laxman can be made the chief selector. Laxman has been working as NCA head for a long time. In such a situation, he is also responsible for being a backup coach. He will also be seen with the Indian T20 team during the Asian Games, because at the same time the other team will play an ODI match against the West Indies. Head coach Gambhir will be with the ODI team.

Ajit Agarkar became the chief selector of the Indian cricket team on 4 July 2023. Since then, India has won the 2024 T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and 2026 T20 World Cup. During this period, Team India has also been successful in winning the Asia Cup twice, but India’s performance in Tests has not been anything special. Ajit Agarkar played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs and 4 T20s between 1998 and 2007. He has 571 runs and 58 wickets in Tests with the help of 1 century, 1,269 runs and 288 wickets in ODIs with the help of 3 half-centuries, and 3 wickets in T20. After retirement, Agarkar also remained active in the field of coaching and commentary. In an interview, he had said that the most difficult task in playing cricket, doing commentary and selecting the team is selecting the team.
