Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reacted to the ongoing controversy demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. While giving advice to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), he said that if the organization feels that the CEC is working on someone's instructions then it should directly demand the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Arvind Kejriwal said in a news channel's conclave on Monday that first the CJP demanded the resignation of the then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and now it is demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. He said, 'Directly demand the resignation of the boss. Everything is happening on his orders. Kejriwal has also shared the video clip of this program on his X account.

Nationwide demonstration announced from October 2

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had earlier announced that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign from the post of CEC, then protests will be started across the country from October 2. The organization had talked about starting this movement from Mumbai. CJP's demands include many issues including resignation of CEC, ban on SIR and changes in the 2023 law to the Election Commission.

Dipke said on Sunday that the Mumbai Police has not given permission for the proposed demonstration on October 2. After this, he talked about starting Jail Bharo movement in Mumbai on the day of Gandhi Jayanti. However, according to Mumbai Police, it does not have the authority to give permission for a public gathering at Shivaji Park and the organizers have been advised to find an alternative venue.

What is the whole controversy?

The controversy over CEC Gyanesh Kumar escalated when The Indian Express reported that Election Commissioners SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had lodged objections to the decisions to SIR. According to the report, both the election commissioners had raised objections to decisions and procedures at least 14 times in 10 months. The Election Commission has said that different views and comments are part of the institutional process in a multi-member commission. The Commission has also said that decisions to SIR have been taken unanimously and have been approved under the legal process.
