AMRITSAR: A 25-year-old man was burnt alive after the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a truck carrying bitumen on the Manawala-Tarn Taran bypass on Thursday.






The deceased, identified as Gurwinder Singh , a resident of Goindwal Sahib, was trapped inside the SUV after the collision and could not escape as the vehicle caught fire.




A police personal present on the site Harjit Singh said the fire had been extinguished but the youth driving the car had died inside the vehicle.




The collision triggered a major fire, with flames engulfing both the SUV and the bitumen-laden truck. The accident caused panic among commuters and drew a large crowd to the bypass as the movement of traffic was halted for some time.
