Tezzbuzz Desk– In the second match of the ODI series played between India and West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Team India made such a run chase which registered its name in the history of cricket. Batting first, West Indies scored 405 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. In response, India won the match by scoring 406 runs losing only 2 wickets in 43.3 overs. With this victory, India also achieved an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series. This match was historic for the West Indies, as the team crossed the 400-run mark in ODI cricket for the first time. After losing the toss, the Caribbean team came to bat first and put pressure on the Indian bowlers from the very beginning. Opener John Campbell completed his century in just 65 balls. He scored 101 runs in 68 balls with the help of 9 fours and 5 sixes.
Captain Shay Hope got a lease of life on his personal score of 27 runs. Virat Kohli could not catch his catch at short midwicket. After this, Hope took full advantage of this opportunity and played a brilliant inning of 104 runs in 94 balls. Whereas Aamir Jangu completed his second ODI century in just 69 balls and remained unbeaten after scoring 114 runs. In this way, three West Indies batsmen scored centuries in the same innings. For India, Gurnoor Brar, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took 2-2 wickets. However, due to the aggressive batting of the West Indies batsmen, India had a huge target of 406 runs. The Indian team, chasing the target, adopted an aggressive stance from the very first ball. Former captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill did not give any chance to the West Indies bowlers. Rohit Sharma played a brilliant inning of 101 runs in 75 balls with the help of 10 fours and 6 sixes. He gave India a strong start by scoring runs at a fast pace.
On the other hand, captain Shubhman Gill created history in this match. He completed the fastest double century in ODI cricket in just 117 balls. Gill did not stop here and scored unbeaten 223 runs in 133 balls with the help of 26 fours and 8 sixes. Thanks to the innings of Gill and Rohit, India achieved the target by scoring 406 runs in 43.3 overs. India won this match with an excellent run rate of 9.33. This is only the second time in ODI cricket when a team has successfully chased the target of 400 or more runs. This victory was also special for the Indian team because for the first time in the history of ODI cricket, India achieved the target of more than 400 runs. Rohit's century and Gill's record-breaking double century were the biggest attractions of India's historic victory.
