Mumbai: As glamorous as the film industry appears from outside, its reality from within is said to be equally bitter. Stories of actresses often come to light regarding casting couch, but now a filmmaker has claimed that male actors are also its victims. Filmmaker Rahat Shah Kazmi recently spoke openly about the dark side of the industry in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. During the interview, he was asked whether even today male actors sleep with directors and producers to get roles?

"Yes of course, everyone knows this" – Rahat Kazmi

To this Rahat Shah Kazmi replied without hesitation. He said, "Yes, absolutely. Everyone knows this, there is nothing new in it. It is difficult to say whether this is exploitation of male actors or whether they themselves do all this to get fame. But it happens."

Filmmakers do not consider actors as victims

The filmmaker further said that he does not consider such actors as victims. He said, "I don't consider him a victim at all, because you yourself are choosing this. You have two options. A difficult path, which we chose, was that if we could not get an entry, we would make a cinema ourselves. And another easy way is to get involved with a director or producer. So it is their choice."

Also spoke on insecurity of top heroes

In the interview, another question was asked to Rahat that the top heroes of the industry are seen romancing with younger heroines even after being older, when will this change? On this Rahat said that our superstars are afraid of doing realistic cinema. He said, "Our superstars are very insecure. He doesn't want to experiment, doesn't even want to change his look. And even the directors are not able to say anything in front of him." These statements of Rahat Shah Kazmi have once again sparked a debate on the dark truth of casting couch and stardom in the film industry.
