Former Australian cricket team's legendary all-rounder Shane Watson has praised Indian T20 team captain Shreyas Iyer. During a sports show on broadcaster Prime Video after the concluded T20 series between India and West Indies, Watson described Iyer as a very 'special player' of modern cricket. Watson believes that Shreyas has an amazing art of scoring runs against fast bowlers and especially against spin, which makes him different from the rest of the batsmen in the world. Along with this, he also praised Iyer's calm captaincy.

Watson admires Shreyas Iyer's shot technique

Shane Watson spoke openly about Shreyas Iyer's batting style and his footwork against spin. He said, “Shreyas Iyer is a very special player. He not only hits the ball well against fast bowlers, but the ease with which he hits fours and sixes against spin is not often seen in cricket.” According to Watson, Shreyas's playing big shots openly against spin is the biggest challenge for the bowlers.

Iyer has the art of scoring big at low risk

In T20 cricket, maintaining the run rate in the middle overs is considered to be the most difficult task. Talking about this, Watson said that Shreyas Iyer steals runs very easily in the middle overs without taking any big risk. Along with rotating the strike, he knows very well how to send bad balls across the boundary. According to Watson, scoring runs consistently while taking less risks gives great strength to the Indian middle order.

Shane Watson becomes crazy about Iyer's 'cool' captaincy and control over the game

Apart from batting, Shane Watson was also impressed by the leadership abilities of Shreyas Iyer as the captain of the Indian team. Praising Iyer's captaincy, he said, “As a captain, Shreyas remains very calm and composed on the field.” Watson believes that this cool nature of Iyer completely removes the pressure from other players of the team, due to which the entire team is successful in performing at its best.

Team India's new journey under the leadership of Iyer

After taking charge of the Indian T20 team, Shreyas Iyer is continuously receiving positive reactions from the stalwarts of the cricket world. This big praise from a great all-rounder like Shane Watson shows that Shreyas has not only established himself as an excellent batsman but is also emerging as a great captain of the future.
