Let us know the easy recipe of making Murmura Tikki.

Material

Puffed rice – 2 cups
Potatoes – 2 medium sized boiled
Onion- 1 small, finely chopped
Green chilli – 1, finely chopped
Green Coriander – 2 tbsp
Red chilli powder – half teaspoon
Chaat masala – half teaspoon
Cumin – half teaspoon
Salt- as per taste
Rice flour or breadcrumbs – 2 to 3 tablespoons
Some oil for frying tikkis

Method

  1. To make puffed rice tikki, first put the puffed rice in a vessel and lightly wet it with water and filter it immediately.

  2. Keep in mind that puffed rice should not be soaked in water for too long. Now press lightly with hands to remove excess water. This will prevent the tikki mixture from becoming too wet.

  3. Now mash the boiled potatoes well in a big vessel. Add prepared puffed rice, finely chopped onion, green chilli and green coriander to it.

  4. After this add red chili powder, chaat masala, cumin and salt. Mix everything well. To bind the mixture, add rice flour or breadcrumbs.

  5. When the mixture is well prepared, apply some oil on your hands and make small balls of it. Now press them lightly with your palms and shape them into tikkis.

  6. Keep in mind that the tikki should neither be too thick nor too thin. Due to this, the tikki cooks well and becomes crispy from outside.

  7. Now heat a non-stick pan and pour some oil on it. Place the prepared tikkis on the pan and cook on medium flame until they become golden brown on both sides.

  8. Keep turning the tikkis occasionally, so that they cook properly and retain their crispness. Take out the prepared tikkis in a plate.

These tips will make tikkis more crispy

It is important to keep some small things in mind while making puffed rice. Drain excess water from puffed rice thoroughly, as excess moisture may cause the tikkis to break. If the mixture seems loose, add a little more rice flour or breadcrumbs. Bake the tikki on medium flame, so that it becomes golden from outside and cooked well from inside.

Serve with green chutney and tea

Hot puffed rice tikkis can be served with green coriander-mint chutney, sweet tamarind chutney or tomato sauce. Its taste increases even more with ginger tea. If you wish, you can also add some dry mango powder or black pepper to the mixture as per your choice.
